Dental anxiety is quite common for patients visiting the dentist, but we have ways to help you manage. If you let us know you are anxious we will allow extra time for your appointment. Being scared to visit the dentist can result in delaying or avoiding dental treatment and we want to avoid this as much as possible so it does not affect your oral health.

Regular dental exams are a critical part of preventive health care. A routine dental examination is carried out by your dentist every six months unless they recommend it differently, for example, if you do not have any dental issues then the dentist will normally see you every 12 months.

If you are interested in booking any of our cosmetic or general dentistry services, we offer new patient examinations to get a complete overview of your dental health and to see how we can help. Visiting a new dentist can seem a bit unnerving at first, but rest assured, our team will make you feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible.

There are a virtual plethora of advantages that come from having healthy teeth and gums. From that feeling you get when you smile and your teeth are beautiful and white, to the knowledge that comes knowing that you can eat a variety of different food products without the worry of constant pain.

Root canal therapy is carried out when the nerve of the tooth has died or an infection around the end of the root of the tooth is present. An infection may be present due to tooth decay, leaky fillings or damage to the tooth from trauma. Root canal treatment is not painful and can save a tooth that might otherwise have to be removed completely.

A tooth is normally extracted due to several reasons. These can include severe tooth decay, a broken tooth that cannot be repaired, gum disease-causing the tooth to become mobile or problems with wisdom teeth. The tooth is normally extracted in the dental surgery under a local anaesthetic but sometimes you would be referred to an Oral Surgery Department if the extraction is more complicated.

Dentures are a functional, versatile and aesthetically pleasing solution to replace missing teeth and support gum tissue. Dentures are designed so that they replicate the function of normal teeth, which enables the ability to chew and speak. Dentures can also be shaped to improve the soft tissue profile of the face which provides a fuller and more youthful appearance.

A dental bridge is an artificial tooth placed where a tooth is missing. This artificial tooth is then attached to the teeth on either side. Dental bridges can be utilised where implants cannot physically be placed, for instance, if there is not enough bone, or if there are medical conditions that would advise against implant treatment. Bridges are also less costly than implants.
